Towers and tower height

Lets talk about tower height. A good rule of thumb is 30 feet above anything within 500 feet. This is to the tip of the blades. Add blade radius to that. Example, trees are 40 feet tall, add thirty to that, and you have now got yourself 70 feet in the air. Add now a 10 foot blade and you are at 80 feet in the air. This is the minumum. I don't think a pipe tower will be much more than a testing fixture. A guyed tower or a free standing tower is going to be expensive. I myself prefer the guyed tower, it is much easier to climb. free standing taper towers a fairly wide at the base and just don't look as attractive. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.
