I keep seeing wind turbines "usually seen on eBay" with outrageous claims. so I decided that there needs to be a discussion on Magic wind turbines that seem to be able to produce more power from a given
? swept area with a given wind speed than all other wind turbines.

Here is an example taken from an eBay auction.
Geared Wind Generator low speed geared test unit with no load amps 5000watt+ This is a test unit that I built. I only had it up for 2 weeks and it worked just fine. It starts up at less than 8mph winds and tested with my cordless drill at 300rpm I got 120 volts dc and 6 amps this can be done with about 15 mph winds.? At 140 volts I was getting 10 amps. It can get over 240vdc and over 60 amps. Maxed out if you add up the numbers it would be over 14,000 watt unit. It is unlikely you will ever see that, but you will? see 700 to 4800 watts while the other wind generators are giving you only 100 to 300 watts in the same wind. The blades are made of .090? aluminum? that measure 10 inch at the base and taper to 2 1/2 at the tip that are 30 inchs long which makes these blades low wind startup and high torque. Blades and tail come? with a protective wrap on them that you peal off.? The motors are in a pvc case to protect them from mother nature. Start saving on your electric bill all year round. I make these with permanant magnet motors and they fit over 1 1/2 pipe. This is the one I will use on my own house, I don't think there is anyone in the world that can beat this unit. I will only take a return if you show me something was wrong in what I said with the capablity of the unit it's self. Once tied into the grid, this should cut your electric bill down low. We could all save money and the enviroment, by going green. This is by far the best I've ever built. Good luck bidding!!? Where are you going to get a 5000 watt unit for this price? Geared 3-1 very smooth and quite in a oil filled sealed case.? ? This is rock bottom price, I used it as a test unit so that is why the price is so low. Next week the units will be new and I will start bid at 750.00, I worked for 1 1/2 years? to find something that can fit into our lives without costing us? anything after the fact, On my own and it wasn't easy. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170283919142&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123
Hi, Bryan so I just have to buy a wind meter to prove to you that my claims are right?

You haven't even used a wind speed meter to base your claims?

What did you do, wet your finger and hold it up to get your wind speed measurements.

You need to do some reading and learn why I say and others say your claims are impossible.

Here is a link that shows the numbers. http://www.otherpower.com/windbasics1.html

I provided the link because the people at other power have explained it so well that I don't think I could improve the explanation they have given.

If you can prove you claims I want to buy one right away. and only one because that is all I would need for all my power needs.
