Hello, I made a set of PVC blades from a pattern I got off the internet. They worked really well. I made another set a little bigger, but, when i bolted them on, I inadvertanly bolted them on backwards. Now the new blades seem to start spinning much sooner but they seem to be slower. They are only 1 &1/2 in longer than the 1st set, so shouldn,t they be almost as fast? Also they seem to want to spin in a ccw rotation whereas the 1st set went mostly in a cw direction. my question is this , should I change them or go back to the 1st set? Thank you Jerry

Hey Jerry

the 1.5 inch difference would not be noticeable in your rpm. It sounds like you building a small turbine 4ft or less. small wind turbines need high rpm, so I would go with the set that gave you the highest rpm. there is very little power in winds below 7mph.
especially with small wind turbines .
pvc blades work well for the smaller turbines. just be aware of cold conditions will make the pvc brittle.

sounds like you are having fun... if you get some photos please post them.

Wind Turbines are a lot funner to watch than solar panels

Hi Jerry,
Interesting that your blades seem to want to spin n an opposite direction. Have you noticed a difference in power output?
